Some need only a knife and a trained eye to cut out equal-sized triangles. A more guided method uses a pre-cut cardboard triangle that, placed on your croissant dough, guides your knife to cut the dough to the cardboard triangle’s measurements. Yet another method first uses a multiple-parallel-straight-edge-wheel pastry divider to mark rectangles, then a knife to cut each rectangle from corner to opposite corner, yielding two triangles.
If any of those methods are yours, you may not be apt to invest in a croissant cutter.
